New Skin!

infOpinions? has been ‘skinned’

As you can see, the blog looks very different … and, I must add, it is a very welcome and much appreciated new look!

er, looks – actually … you can choose the ‘Skin It!‘ dropdown menu to see our other ‘skin’. I like them both. What is your favorite?

Many thanks to Lisa of elegantwebscapes.com! She offers affordable ‘skinning’ and blog/web hosting. Please check out her company site.

Why the change? It all started here.

For my ‘rating’ of her services, please read on …

Rating of ElegantWebscapes.com services: (out of 5 ‘s)

  • Quality of Service
  • Attention to Customer Goals
  • Artistic Talent
  • Speed and Turnaround
  • Price

Easily worthy of 5 Stars overall! And, no, I do not feel that I’m exaggerating … not one bit!

Full Disclosure:
We paid for this service.
There was no ‘trade-out’ – no ‘quid pro quo’.
I have not ‘met’ Lisa prior to this transaction.
None of my students have ever met Lisa.

All aspects of this transaction (communication, payment) took place online via e-mail, PayPal and both of our blogs.

The end products were delivered before the due date, too.

I love your work, Lisa. The students love your work. We appreciate your involvement. Thank you!

I’ll post more later. Visitors, please comment here, or on the previous post, with your thoughts about our new ‘skin’. Thanks!

  1. That is soooo amazing, and so cool. I am sticking with orange, out of childhood favorites.

Plus, all those years of wearing glasses, the specs brought back nightmares.

Only one suggestion – Lisa needs to highlight her blog designs like Sekimori does. Where’s the Lisa icon?!?

  2. Thanks, Jeremy. Lisa is an absolute delight.

I know what ya’ mean about the glasses. I suggested them to Lisa because I wear glasses and/or contacts … sometimes both at the same time. Kinda scary, huh?

We discussed making one theme with more contrast (the orange one) for those with an aversion to glasses or a desire for a simple black on white read. I’ll probably bounce back and forth between the two.

Lisa has a post about the experience in her blog, too.

Oh, and I like your idea for ‘Lisa logo’ … like sekimori‘s. She has a link on the left, but the logo would be that special ‘signature’ touch.

  3. Your blog got a makeover!!!! I like the tan colored one best, it’s easy on the eyes. See you in class tomorrow!

  4. Hey Jessica! Yep, we’ve been ‘skinned’ … and we’ll talk about it tomorrow in class. Take care.

  5. I got the Lasek surgery (the non-flap kind). For the first time in 24 years, I can see the bottles of shampoo in the shower. THAT’S how bad my eyes were.

  6. Again, Robert – thank you! I’m really flattered by your words – what more can a designer ask for?

I generally don’t do graphic banners on clients sites because my feeling is that it’s your blog — and you paid for my services – – so I don’t want to be obtrusive by placing a graphic on your site, and settle, instead, for a nice text link.

However – some clients have requested a banner – and I do have an E.Webscapes banner on my blog – on the top of the far left menu, if you’d like to have it- feel free to grab it and link it to E.Webscapes :)

Thank you, again – can’t say that enough! :D

  7. Very nice indeed! Perfect usability ingredients for a good blog: easy on the eye, simple to navigate as well as content worth reading. Congrats, Robert (and Lisa)!

  8. I like both of the new skins but my favorite is the one without the glasses. I think I like it because it is orange and blue! Both are very good and I think it’s cool how you got the new looks.

  9. The new skin looks great. About time we changed it up…Just hope I never have to do it..Too complex for me..Great job Lisa!

  10. I like the new skin. Actually both of them. The give the Infopinions? site a wonderful new sense of pizzaz. It took me a minute to get used to it, but after that I found all of the links were still there. Good job, Lisa!

  11. I think the new look is very welcoming and comforting. The colors make the site seem intellectual. I was shocked last evening to see the change!

  12. Cute! (You know — i’m being serious, now. “Cute” is just that word that girls use for everything they like!) I really like the tone and motif of the toupe one but i like the layout (three columns) of the orange and blue one! Both are great though…both are worthy of a “cute”!

  13. The new site looks great. I vote for the “specs” skin but both designs work well. Now my blog looks really plain…thanks for raising the bar, Robert. You know, this doesn’t count as billable work at my firm so you’re going to keep me up an extra half hour at night to jazz up my own blog.

  14. Thank you, Matthew!

I agree, ‘specs’ is my fav, too.

I like your blog’s look. And, I’ve noticed a lot of students looking at it lately.

But, if you’re going to get a new look — and want to sleep instead — just work with Lisa. It is a pleasure + she does great work.

    Take care!
