Here'a a peek at the our chapters-only section http://list.nsc.org/chapters/toots

We went to blog software for the chapters-only news page for a couple of reasons. Chapters had continual problems with cookies in a previous generation of a private page for chapters with our old Cold Fusion authentication system. We knew that going to a tested LAMP app like pMachine would just go. The main thing was our desire to hand off content creation to the chapter services group at the Council. Now all the web group has to do is troubleshoot and consult. It takes us out of the steno pool. (You might have to explain steno pool to your students)

Thanks Amy. Good to know of the National Safety Council's efforts. Can you point us to some info about it? What is being discussed/catalogued? Sounds very interesting.

We're using blog software at the National Safety Council, but it's in use more for content management than for community, though that's changing, and we'll be launching more of them, taking advantage of more blog features. I'm afraid I can't point you to an example; they're all password protected, used for constituent groups.
