Connect Duluth :: Another great Grass Roots CMS effort
They have used CMS to enable a grassroots political movement which seeks to promote “a sensible approach to our hometown issues.”
The organization scored its first big political win last week when it got its members to speak out against a City Council retreat originally planned for this weekend.
Connect Duluth opposed the gathering because it was to take place outside the city, and the group thought the $2,500 cost was too high.
Not long after Connect Duluth raised the concern, the event was canceled. (Source)
Other Duluth groups are getting into the act, too.
Progressive Action wants to let people know about a political rally, like the Say Yes to Peace event we organized when George W. Bush came to town last year, we’ve got a quick pipeline to a large number of people,” Olsen said.
The group is designing a Web site and hopes to have it up and running this spring. (Source)
Another site in Duluth, just launched and needing some work, is Duluthian’s First.
I wrote to one of the sites wondering what CMS platform they are using. No word back. Admittedly, I was hoping to see some CivicSpace in use here … but no such luck. Still believe that it will catch on as “the” grassroots platform. Give it time.
