BLOG:CMS Platform :: Cool Possiblities for PR/Marcom

28 March 2005 2 views One Comment

Just re-tried the Blog:CMS platform. It has been upgraded and now comes with a fully integrated – one time install – “state-of-the-art weblog (multiple, if you wish), forum, wiki engine, news aggregator (atom / rss), and photo gallery.”

The new platform fully integrates BLOG:CMS with PubBB forums and DocuWiki. All are PHP/mySQL based and a breeze to install. Took about 30 minutes the first time out. Now, after figuring out just one glitch, I’d say it could be done in 15 minutes – easy.

Gotta’ say, it is pretty cool! Check it out at PRCaseStudies.com.

OK, so if you’ll forgive me – one more spin of Robert’s broken record:

These opensource platforms continue to amaze me with their ease of installation and powerful CMS options.

From intranet to extranet, and even internet portals or private installs on a desktop, these platforms can offer quick crisis communication launches or long term knowledge vaults.

Opensource CMS (like blogging) is not a panacea. It is a tool. Yes, the content (I know some people hate that term) is what makes the difference, ultimately. But, there is power here. Are we fully investigating it and taking advantage of it for our client, company and personal benefit?

Now, I only wish I could get some PR practitioners to take these things over and use them for their own benefit. I’m open to continue the hosting and even helping administer them for you. Anything that brings one more practitioner in contact with my students is a bonus. The time and money on my part is well worth it. Comment or write to me if you, or someone you know, might be interested in trying these things out.
