30 Themes / Blog Appearances To Choose From

I have uploaded 30 different themes from the Drupal repository so that you may look at the many looks this site may have.
Just use the registration form to the left and I'll enable your account so that you can see all the choices.
Many thanks to Kiera...

Thank you, Kieran. As always, you have been very helpful. I will point the members of the group to your comment.

I believe that now WordPress has received the nod for use this year. I agree that CivicSpace has the greatest the greatest potential for PR practitioners. It will work for a wide variety of sites and has more campaign and business-oriented modules (plugins).

Update: I meant to write that we should have adopted CivicSpace very early in the planning process and used the site, rather than the Yahoo! Group. But, I did not suggest it. ;( And, I'm not sure it would have been used. There is still a bit of work to be done on education as to CivicSpace's potential. I'll keep trying.

<strike>Where may I download a 'zip' of the "Friends Electric" theme? I searched for the last 10 minutes and did not find anything beyond the Drupal repository - which offers the individual parts, but not the whole thing. Unless I missed it.</strike> Update: OK, did find this at Drupal. It has been awhile since I went 'in search of' these goodies. I did download and install several different themes for the participants to check out, too.

I am a big fan of CivicSpace and have written often here about the power and scope it brings to CMS. That depth and breadth, I believe, cannot be matched by any other CMS for implementation in PR.

One thing I have hoped for on the CivicSpace site is a link on the front page that points to those modules/themes/plugins which would 'sell' the platform to adopters. If there were just one page linked from the front of CivicSpace that gave visitors a blurb about themes, a blurb about modules and then links to those 'collections' - it would do wonders for the spread of CivicSpace.

Simplicity is good. But, the front page now is a bit too simplistic, to me. If, below the "What is CivicSpace" panel, those simple links could be added - it will do wonders to simplify potential adopter appreciation for the scope of the platform.

Hi, I took a look at both your demo sites. I work for CivicSpace so you'll know my bias. WordPress is great for blogging and has a number of excellent and easy to use features. It's got a great community and it's constantly improving.

Here are some things to consider when comparing platforms. The theme you are using isn't particularly flaterring you might want to look at a newer theme like the CivicSpace theme or Friends Electric.

If you are like the PR people I know you live by your contacts database. The new CivicSpace is shipping integrated with CiviCRM a fully featured CRM system. So if you wanted to add 100 000 PR contacts for your community you could do that, map them, have smart searches, and track contacts by their activities as well as groups or organizations they have belonged to.

If Global PR week is cranking up I'd recommend you have event management incorporated into your Site. CivicSpace has events, RSVP, Volunteer, location integration. I think you'll find that your team that is coordinating these events will greatly appreciate being able manage all the events in a single central location.

You also might want to consider how you are going to organize your information and Drupal's built in support for Categories and soon to come tagging is really powerful for being able allow your community to organize it's information.

If you have any questions I'd be happy to help on our forums at http://civicspacelabs.org on our community forums.

	Cheers,

Kieran
