FPRA Blog Week :: Fav Posts …
FPRA blog week has been going strong.
Please go to the blog and say hello with a comment or two.
Allow me to share some of my favorite posts from the week, so far. The blog is turning into quite the resource of information for new adopters of online WOM, social media.
Doreen Perez offers The Benefits of Volunteering. You knew that would be my favorite, come on – admit it.
…our community is full of organizations that need help, that need you! All you have to do is decide what organization you want to help. You will discover benefits you didn’t even expect.
So, let’s break it down. What exactly are the benefits of volunteering? Read more…
Jennifer Wakefield offers up “New Tools for Issues Scanning” with new technology.
How new technology can help
New technology can help streamline your monitoring process. Did you realize that instead of checking various news Web sites throughout the day, you could get all of this information from a single source? It’s true. It’s through a process you’ve probably even heard of. It’s called Really Simple Syndication (RSS) and it will change the way you work. Read more…
Visit FPRA’s blog week and check out the posts. They are doing a great job. I just wish more state associations would do this type of event. In fact, I think every one should. Then, take that effort and turn it into an association blog site where the officers post weekly.
Just me dreaming.

Wow, my post is one of your favorites? Very cool. Thanks.
It’s very simplistic recap, but I’ve been getting a ton of calls/e-mails from friends and others that just started using RSS yesterday and are already obsessed.
Hey Jen,
Your post at FPRA Blog Week is especially useful because, I imagine, your audience for this blog week is probably just exploring RSS and WOM via social media. So, you have provided a terrific resource for them. My students will be looking at this one in class, too.
Great work and the Blog Week seems to be going very well. Congrats!
Doreen’s is terrific because, well, I’m a volunteer nut. Everyone should volunteer. Recently we launched a small project called Operation Link Love. Link Love seeks to have PR practitoners seek out nonprofits and help them launch WOM social media sites to help their organizations.
Perhaps your FPRA chapters can undertake the project down there and login to the wiki to add the groups you help start blogging, etc.
Thanks for your work with FPRA Blog Week. We are enjoying it.
[...] Personally, I’m very encouraged by this and agree with Robert French that other organizations should embrace this idea as well. [...]
