Links To Posts I’ve Been Thinking About
September 22, 2006 by Robert
Links… I’ve been delinquent, so I’m catching up.
…I feel guilty, not able to post much lately, so I am offering up great posts from some great bloggers…
Here are some interesting posts I’ve come across lately. A pretty diverse collection, the posts reflect many of the issues I’ve been thinking about lately.
From using readily available CMS (from a vendor or opensource) for your in-house newsroom to YouTube and WOM, these posts run the gammit. Good reading and, for my students, good starting point for writing your own takes on these issues.
- Dee Rambeau started a conversation about online newsrooms and the choice of creating one in-house or purchasing an existing platform. Interesting comments, too. Some say that the technology (platform) used is the message (or part of the message). Well, I’d only agree with that in some instances.

- This topic interests me as I work with Alex, a.k.a. Viper007Bond. We are modifying a part of the Structured Blogging plugin as a possible platform for creating social media releases via Wordpress. Alex’s nick, by the way, comes from his love of the car in the Bond movie.
- An interesting post from Josh re: India’s hand in US politics. Josh is so often finding these unique examples and this time he broke news. Congrats, Josh. Quite informative and a good learning experience over at Hyku. Read More Katherine Harris Comment Spam Victims - by Josh Hallett
- Josh’s original Katherine Harris post in this thread is here: Katherine Harris comment spam from India - by Josh Hallett
- Does CAA YouTube Campaign Go Beyond LonelyGirl15?!? - by Eric Eggertson
Very funny post by Eric about the LonelyGril15 YouTube sham and CAA. The CAA tie-in reminded me of those years spent booking acts. CAA was always an interesting company to deal with … sometimes good, sometimes bad. - Communication Overtones: Interview: ToddAnd on Starting Out in Social Media - by Kami Huyse

- The University of Florida’s PR program is blogging:
- Gator PUR Classes
- philanthropy course blog
- And, Josh points to how the Gator alumni effort is launching a blog community with YouTube / social media characteristics.
- Finally, check out two birthdays:

- and, del.icio.us is three years old and apparently about to be potty trained. You’ll have to go read it to understand that metaphor.
- Last, but definately not least, Ted Demopoulos has finished his book - What No One Ever Tells You About Blogging and Podcasting: Real-Life Advice from 101 People Who Successfully Leverage the Power of the Blogosphere (Amazon) and offers the following list of those people and topics covered. Ted Demopoulos and all those he interviewed. Full disclosure, I’m one of the 101. Thank you, Ted. Also, check out Blogging For Business (Amazon) - a book by Ted and Shel Holtz. For my students, any of the 101 blogs Ted references in Ted’s post are great reads and would probably appreciate an insightful comment along the way.
